The Eden Project is announcing its most spectacular events calendar ever to celebrate its 10th birthday year.
Featuring a sports day starring Shaun the Sheep, circus workshops and an exhibition about the science of poo, 2011 will see a stunning programme of activities to mark a decade since visitors first stepped inside the famous Biomes.
The fun starts in the Easter holidays and beyond as Shaun the Sheep returns to Eden to host a raucous sports day with a difference. Championsheeps Live! will see Sheep space hopper races, cabbage football ‘keepie-uppie’ and the Naughty Pigs Sack Race. It’s the world premiere of this new event presented by SGA Productions in association with Aardman and staged at Eden only from April 9 to May 2. The event is included in the price of admission.
In May half-term, Freaky Nature is coming back with sticky seeds, poisonous and flesh-eating plants plus, new for this year, the science of poo. Part of the ‘Dirt’ season developed with the Wellcome Trust, there’ll be exhibits on the magic of manure – including how it’s used in food production and shelter-building – the evolution of loos and family activities like the flush game. Freaky Nature with Poo is included in admission and takes place from May 28 to June 5.
During the summer holidays there’ll be a celebration of play in the great outdoors including den building, summer splash, and, for the first time, circus skills. Festival of Play is coming to Eden from July 23 to September 4 and is included in admission. Throughout the summer evening’s Eden plays home to the Circus. Labyrinth will be performed right across the Eden site from July 29 to August 29, including inside the famous Biomes, and will culminate in an incredible finale under Eden’s very own big top – the first time the entire attraction has been used as a stage. This is a separately ticketed event.
As autumn sets in, scary experiences will beckon thrill-seekers to Eden over Halloween half-term week. There’ll be a spine-tingling walk through the Rainforest Biome and a return of the Little Monsters’ Ball.
Tickets for discounted admission and early bird tickets for Labyrinth are availiable through 365tickets.com
