The GPO was transformed after midday on Easter Monday 1916. A band of rebels stormed the GPO. They ordered staff and customers to leave and seized control of the building, making it their headquarters during the fierce fighting of Easter Week 1916. If you look at it’s walls you can still see the bullet holes from that fateful Rebellion. GPO Witness History allows visitors to learn about what led to the conflict. The past will come to life through electronic touch screens, video, audio visual booths, sound and authentic artefacts.
